DISCLAIMER: STAR TREK's Paramount's: story's mine. "A birthday gift for a lady? Certainly." The shopkeeper notes Kashyk's arrogant air, and bows low. "My lord," he adds, to be on the safe side: all this region of space knows of the Devore.
Kashyk remembers what Kathryn has told him of her country childhood.
"A hamster, my lord? I know of no such creature. Perhaps ...?" He gestures to some cages behind him.
"Yes," says Kashyk. "I shall take two."
The price is high, but what price can he set on Kathryn's happiness? He carelessly tosses the gold pieces onto the counter.
"What are they called?"
"Tribbles, my lord."
