There are numerous societies dedicated to keeping the old gal going. I've been able to find some of them on the net (see Language
Links.
For some reason, Latin is very big in
Finland, where a singer has translated into Latin and recorded (with
commercial success!) the songs of Elvis Presley! Sorry, I've got
no more information than that. I could have a stab at a couple of
titles, though: Hospitium Doloris (Heartbreak Hotel); Cordem
Ligneum Non Habeo (I Don't Have a Wooden Heart).
Latin spelled backwards is Nital. How
this gladdened my eleven-year-old heart.
Despite what a lot of people apparently believe,
Latin is still the official language of the Catholic
Church. The definitions below are from an article in the UK and
Ireland Catholic newspaper, The Universe. It concerned a
dictionary which was presented to the Holy Father. The article
appeared on 16 January 1981 (I've been browsing through my
scrapbook).
